The Nobs Technology custom programming department
constantly monitors and tests many business applications
offered today by the leading software companies.
We practice this in part to stay current
with the software industry. Programming styles,
languages, and trends change frequently in the
software industry. Keeping current ensures that
we deliver the best possible software at an affordable
price.
Many times, we test software to determine how
many of the applications features are actually
utilized during a typical business day. We
find that eliminating these rarely used features,
provides a business with software that can be
easily be taught to new employees. The faster
an employee becomes proficient at their task,
the faster an employer can receive a return on
their investment. This in fact saves money on
training expenses, software support, and allows
the business to add these removed features at
a later time when they become more relevant to
daily activities.
Custom software not only saves money on training,
but provides a business with high quality, uniform
data that can easily be managed, utilized, and
developed further. Data that can be used to
track sales, forecast trends, expand a client
list and so much more.
Software licensing typically becomes expensive
as the "per seat" number of users increases.
With a program developed specifically for a business
there are no licensing issues, the company actually
own the program and all it's rights. It may be
installed on as many client machines and servers
as needed at any time without ever having to purchase
a license.
Business software should be a solution, not
an issue. That's why Custom Software, designed
for and developed around your business makes so
much sense in this data driven world.
How the job is started. Our programmers
and systems analysts will meet with your staff
to determine what your company needs in the line
of software. There is one major questions at this
point: Does your company currently operate on
paper? Simply put, is there a current data structure
in place such as Access or Peachtree?
If your office currently operates with hard
copy only we will then have to determine which
data you wish to store, and how it needs to be
set up. Company documents and forms will be
examined to follow the data path your company
uses to store it's information. Usually the company
"forms" are a great place to start.
By determining what type of data is collected
and where it goes we can then design a database
to store the new information. Should a database
currently exist we will then export the information
from your current database structure into the
newly designed database.
What's the next step? Once your business
application has been designed, it will then be
delivered to the programmers who will begin writing
the "code" for your application. Your
application, once completed, will allow room for
growth including the options to add new modules,
new forms, more departments, or new products.
Your business application will also allow for
modifications to be implemented seamlessly, therefore
greatly reducing down time.
